Thomas R. Anthony, associate superintendent of secondary schools for the Capistrano Unified district, will leave July 1 to become superintendent of Fallbrook Union High School District in northern San Diego County.
Anthony, 51, began his career with the Capistrano in 1986 as principal of Capistrano Valley High School. He was named assistant superintendent of secondary school operations in 1991 and promoted to his current associate position in 1995.
During Anthony’s tenure, the district opened two secondary campuses: Aliso Viejo Middle School and Aliso Niguel High School.
He also worked closely with community groups and local law enforcement officials on gang prevention, school improvement and youth and health issues.
“We are proud that Tom Anthony has attained his ultimate career goal,” Supt. James A. Fleming said. “We are pleased that he will be superintendent of a neighboring district.”
