Supervisors Hold Meeting in Fillmore

County supervisors met in Fillmore on Tuesday, holding a rare regular meeting outside the County Government Center in Ventura.
It is unclear how much it cost to run the meeting out of the new Fillmore City Hall. And, by most accounts, the session was a big success.
About 40 residents and Fillmore officials filled the council chambers for a meeting the board hoped would make county government more accessible in outlying areas while showcasing downtown Fillmore’s reconstruction efforts since the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
Board members held no public hearings and made no controversial decisions, opting instead for an abbreviated, presentation-heavy agenda.
They listened to what a few locals had on their minds and heard reports on California 126 safety efforts and the massive Newhall Ranch project proposed just over the county border.
Fillmore Mayor Roger Campbell called it a “great day” for the city.
Supervisors hope to hold more meetings in other county locations, though none have been scheduled.
