Emanuel Weiner, 90, pioneering Southern California developer. After World War II, Weiner worked with other developers to build family homes in the Westchester area near Los Angeles International Airport. The intention was to build attractive homes for returning veterans at affordable prices, and Weiner marketed his for about $7,000. Schools, shopping areas and the Sepulveda Boulevard business corridor soon followed. After concentrating on Los Angeles’ Westside, Weiner moved into developing condominium complexes in Laguna Beach and other areas of Orange County. He also began developing commercial projects including two major complexes on Laguna Canyon Road. Weiner was active in the Rotary in Orange County and in the 1970s served as treasurer of the Los Angeles Remodeling Contractors Assn. On May 7 in Corona del Mar.
