Campbell Hall Takes Five, but Advances

Larry Cole had 26 kills, 16 digs and eight blocks for Campbell Hall High in a 13-15, 15-2, 9-15, 15-9, 15-12 victory over Malibu in the second round of the Southern Section Division III boys’ volleyball playoffs Tuesday at Campbell Hall.
The Vikings (16-2), who have won 15 consecutive matches, will meet Santa Ana Calvary Chapel in a quarterfinal match Friday.
Harvard-Westlake d. Bell-Jeff, 15-3, 15-5, 15-10--Trevor Julian had 19 kills, Jon Katz had 10 and Brett Fowler added 44 assists for the Wolverines (12-4) in the second round of Division III playoffs.
Crespi d. Villanova Prep, 15-10, 15-11, 15-11--Ryan Hill and James Spratt each had 14 kills for the Celts (10-8) in a Division III second-round match at Crespi.
Thousand Oaks d. Quartz Hill, 15-5, 15-9, 15-3--Quartz Hill (11-5) couldn’t pull off any second-round magic after upsetting Canyon in the first round.
John Penfield had 16 kills and 11 digs, and Max Samimi had 49 assists for the Lancers (14-2) in a Division I match at Quartz Hill.
Providence d. Glendale Adventist, 13-15, 10-15, 15-10, 15-6, 15-4--The Pioneers (19-0) rallied from two games down behind D.J. Petcharamuk, who had 26 kills and 15 digs, and Jose Tano, who added 21 kills and nine digs in a second-round match at Providence.
Kevin Flynn had 17 kills and Bobby Chalermsopone had 70 assists for the Pioneers.
Nathan Abaro had 15 kills for the Cougars (13-7).
Hoover d. San Gabriel, 15-13, 15-2, 15-5--Nick Marbach had 20 kills and Andrew Russell had 14 kills and six blocks for the Tornadoes (12-5) at Hoover in a Division I match.
