Marlins Sign Ex-Canyon Star

Tony Schifano, UC Davis shortstop, has signed a contract with the Florida Marlins, Coach Phil Swimley said.
Schifano, 22, played at Canyon High. He was a member of the 1991 team that finished second to Capistrano Valley in the Southern Section 4-A championship game.
Last season, Schifano batted .367 with 46 runs batted in.

Shannon Wilkins of Canyon High has signed to play tennis for UC Santa Barbara, her father and Canyon Coach Wil Wilkins announced.
