ANGELS’ JASON DICKSON (6-1, 3.72 ERA) vs. BLUE JAYS’ PAT HENTGEN
(5-1, 2.49 ERA)
Skydome, Toronto, 10 a.m.
TV--Channel 9. Radio--KTZN (710).
* Update--Dickson has been in big demand at Skydome, conducting numerous interviews with Canadian reporters chronicling his return to his native country--the Angels’ rookie right-hander grew up in Chatham, New Brunswick. But it’s not as if Dickson feels any extra pressure about today’s start, his first big league appearance in Canada. While some 25 family members and friends traveled to Fenway Park to watch Dickson pitch in April, only a handful of friends will be in attendance today. The reason? Boston is about a five-hour drive from Chatham; Toronto is about 20 hours away. “A lot of people are all hyped up about this, but even though this is my home country it’s not really my home,” Dickson said. “My parents aren’t even coming. I just have a few friends from college who live here or are here on business.” He’ll most likely need to pitch another strong game to defeat Hentgen, the 1996 AL Cy Young Award winner.
