AOL Opens UCI Facility

Internet services provider America Online has opened a regional research and development facility at UC Irvine’s University Research Park--a small-scale version of the Irvine Co.’s giant Spectrum industrial, corporate and R&D; park.
AOL says it plans ultimately to have 200 people working in its 61,000-square-foot UCI facility. They’ll be focusing on data compression and online data transmission issues.
