STANTON — Authorities were still searching Sunday for a 25-year-old Orange County man wanted in connection with a Beach Boulevard motel slaying.
John Hawkins Husser was wanted for questioning in the slaying of Carletta Mayweather, 31, whose body was discovered Saturday afternoon by a housekeeper at the Jade Palace Motel, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Lynn Nehring.
Husser, who reportedly was seen with the victim earlier, was described as black, about 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds, and might be driving a yellow 1986 Ford Taurus with the license plate 1RJD102, Nehring said.
Investigators did not release any detailed information about the cause of death, the crime scene or possible motives.
“We’re holding off on that as the investigation continues,” Nehring said. “We are treating it as a murder, though.”
Anyone with information on Husser’s whereabouts is asked to call sheriff’s investigators at (714) 288-6741.
