Man Critically Injured in Attack

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

A 36-year-old Glendale man was critically wounded early Sunday morning in an attack by two men he knows, police said.

The victim, whose identity was not released pending notification of family, was attacked at about 2 a.m., said Glendale Police Lt. Don Meredith.

Glendale resident Emilio Galvez, 18, and Rene Galvez, 20, of San Francisco were being sought for attempted murder in the attack, Meredith said. The men, both of whom also use the last name Contreras and are believed to be brothers, are considered dangerous, he said.

A 911 call came in to Glendale police at about 2:15 a.m., but no one was on the line, Meredith said. Police went to the location from which the call was made--420 S. Glendale Ave.--and found the wounded man nearby.

Meredith would not say why police believe the victim and suspects are acquainted and would not disclose the nature of the victim’s wounds. The man remained in critical condition Sunday at an area hospital, he said.
