Teen Arrested After Store Clerk Stabbed

SIMI VALLEY — Police arrested a 16-year-old boy suspected of stabbing a man during an attempted robbery in Simi Valley over the weekend, authorities said.
According to police, the boy was attempting to rob the Abbas Market at 5956 Los Angeles Ave. about 2:50 p.m. Saturday when he stabbed store employee Abbas Abbas in the face.
The 56-year-old Abbas suffered a deep cut to his face and was taken to Simi Valley Hospital where he was treated and released.
The boy, who fled after he was unable to open the cash register, was later arrested by police at Verde Park at Nelda Street and Avenida Placida. The knife believed used in the incident was recovered during the arrest.
The boy was taken to Clifton Tatum Juvenile Hall.
