Death Toll in Mall Blaze Reaches 130

The death toll climbed to 130 from a fire set by rioters at a shopping mall during election campaign violence on Borneo, police said. “Heaps of scorched human skulls” were found near three exits on the second floor of the mall in Banjarmasin, according to the official Antara news agency. Mitra Plaza was closed when the fire began during violence between supporters of the governing Sekber Golkar coalition and the United Development Party began Friday, the last day of campaigning for this week’s parliamentary elections.
