UC Irvine Signs Illinois Guard

J.R. Bond, a guard from Illinois Central College, has signed a letter of intent to play men’s basketball at UC Irvine, Wanda Works, Bond’s mother, said Sunday.
Bond, a 5-foot-8 point guard, averaged 15 points and six assists last season. Illinois Central was 26-10 and finished third in the national junior college tournament.
Bond was a two-year starter at Illinois Central. He played at Decatur (Ill.) Eisenhower High.
