Mayor to Head Up Community Center

The Southwest Community Center, a Santa Ana-based nonprofit organization that provides food, clothing and other services to the poor, has selected John J. Collins as its new president.
Collins, a longtime member of the center’s board, is the mayor of Fountain Valley and joint chairman of the Sanitation Districts of Orange County. He succeeds Tyrone Tripp.
For 25 years, the community center has provided hot meals, food bags and household goods to families in need and provided other services.
