SMALL FACES: The soundtrack for the small film “Star Maps” will serve as a major-label sampler of rock en espan~ol acts, with tracks from King Chango, Fobia, Argentina’s La Portuaria and Juana Molina, Mexico’s Control Machete and Astrid Hadad, and songs by the film’s star, Lysa Flores, and co-star Martha Velez. It’s due from Geffen in late July. . . .
Dwight Yoakam is working on a Christmas album, “Come on Christmas,” featuring two original songs (the title track and “Santa Can’t Stay”) as well as seasonal standards. . . . Saxophonist Dave Koz also has a Christmas album coming, titled “December Makes Me Feel This Way.” Koz has included an original Hanukkah piece, “Eight Candles.” . . .
The Plimsouls have finished recording a new album, the group’s first in 14 years and only the third studio album from the seminal L.A.-based power-pop band. Titled “Kool Trash,” the collection will be released in Europe this summer, but the group has yet to secure a U.S. distribution deal. . . .
Love Spit Love, featuring former Psychedelic Furs singer Richard Butler, will release its second album, and its first on Maverick Records, on Aug. 26.
