Walnut Mayor William T. Choctaw will not seek a third term on the City Council in November when two council seats are open, he said Monday.
Choctaw, a doctor and the city’s mayor since 1992, said he is stepping down to allow others to lead the community of 32,000. He said he plans to finish law school.
“With humility, enthusiasm and passion, I step down from the City Council and turn my attention to other endeavors, but never will I forget my eight years on the council, nor the wonderful people of Walnut,” he said.
Three candidates have filed to run for the two seats.
