LL COOL J will receive the Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards, Sept. 4 at Radio City Music Hall. The rapper, who also co-stars in the UPN comedy “In the House,” has been a fixture on the music scene since 1984. His next album, “Phenomenon,” is due on Oct. 14.
