“Brain Longevity” By Dr. Dharma Singh Khalsa with Cameron Stauth, Time Warner AudioBooks, Two cassettes, 3 hours, $17, Read by the author

An eclectic mix of diet, medicine, exercise and yoga is offered as an aid to memory loss and a method of strengthening and improving one’s intelligence. This should appeal to middle-aged boomers showing signs of aging and those with a family history of Alzheimer’s disease.
You’ll find less than half the information available in the printed version of this book, though some of the drier, clinical data should not be missed. The audio includes Khalsa guiding the listener through several yoga exercises and meditations, accompanied by Indian music and chanting. However, it does not include the useful charts and illustrations found in the printed copy.
Khalsa, who studied at some of the best medical schools in the country, has combined Eastern and Western practices. Some require a doctor’s supervision, but many involve sensible stress reduction and basic body maintenance.
