Power-One Inc. in Camarillo says it will expand its manufacturing facilities in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, resulting in more than a 40% increase in capacity at both sites.
Power-One designs and manufactures power supplies for electronic equipment manufacturers in the United States.
The Mexico expansion is expected to be operational this month, and the Dominican Republic expansion should be completed in the first quarter of 1998. Power-One, with more than 2,300 employees, has most of its manufacturing operations at these two sites. The company is also moving ahead with plans to build an ultra-modern facility in Mexico of more than 110,000 square feet. Construction is expected to begin early next year.
“Our expansion plans have been accelerated in response to, among other things, the strong demand for the company’s products in the fourth quarter to date,” said Steve Goldman, Power-One president and CEO. “With a base of over 10,000 customers and end users, we have been very successful in developing partnerships with key customers in sectors such as communications, equipment handling, test equipment, industrial, instrumentation and medical markets.”
