Fluor Flying High--at Least Among Peers

Fluor Corp. still isn’t making analysts happy as it struggles with external and internal problems that have kept it from achieving the kind of profits the investment community expects.

But even with its woes, Irvine-based Fluor still is king of the hill in its core engineering and construction services businesses, according to Fortune magazine, which recently asked companies in a variety of industry segments around the globe to rank their peers.

For 1996, Fluor topped the list as the world’s most admired public company in the engineering and construction industry.
