UCLA returned to practice Saturday in preparation for the Cotton Bowl game against Texas A&M.; Players finished final examinations earlier in the week and Coach Bob Toledo went recruiting in Colorado and attended a Cotton Bowl news conference in Texas with his old boss, Texas A&M; Coach R.C. Slocum.
There, Slocum publicly said what he told Toledo privately two years ago.
“He said he made a big mistake, that he regretted what he did,” Toledo said of the episode in which Slocum fired him as the Aggies’ offensive coordinator as a scapegoat for three Cotton Bowl losses. “I appreciated him saying that publicly.”
