Corona del Mar (21-1) vs. Palos Verdes Peninsula (22-2)
9 A.M. MONDAY
CLAREMONT CLUB
Second-seeded Peninsula has only lost five matches in the seven-year history of its program. Top-seeded Corona del Mar is responsible for two of those defeats, but the Sea Kings have never defeated Peninsula in the playoffs. Corona del Mar fell to Peninsula, 10-8, in last year’s semifinals and 17-1 in the 1994 final. Earlier this year, Corona del Mar beat Peninsula, 11-7, behind the doubles sweep of Ruchika Budhraja and Courtney Tenerelli. Peninsula’s doubles have improved so Corona del Mar might need to win seven or eight singles points to take the match.

Dana Hills (23-1) vs. Mater Dei (16-5)
9:30 A.M. FRIDAY
CLAREMONT CLUB
Top-seeded Dana Hills has owned Mater Dei this season--winning 14-4 in both meetings. But Dana Hills Coach John Stephens, whose team was beaten by Palm Desert in last year’s Division II final, is taking nothing for granted. “I’m going to let my team know how difficult it is to beat a team three times,” he said. “We’ve played well against them the few times we’ve played them. So if we don’t play well, we could lose.” Dana Hills has lost only to Corona del Mar and probably could have fared well in Division I, but the Dolphins chose to stay in Division II.
