‘David’ Statues

It seems to me that the complaining Hancock Park residents are in a rush to force Norwood Young to conform to their so-called taste (Nov. 17). I pass the property twice a day, and it always makes me feel cheerful. It’s neat and clean, and makes its owner’s statement. I think Michelangelo would be very pleased to know that 17 replicas of his “David” are used by a nonconformist to assert his own individuality. Tell the complainers to “get a life.”

When I read “House of ‘David’ ” I remembered once again what my mother used to say to my own teenage whining: “Count your blessings!” I just had to laugh at the residents of Hancock Park. Maybe what they need is something important to worry about. After all, it could be a whole lot worse. How about 17 statues of Stalin . . . or Yoda . . . or Harvey Keitel? Gee, the possibilities are endless. I also very much enjoyed Young’s comments about his neighbors.
