Airport Name

Jimmy Stewart was a nice guy who made some nice movies. I do not favor his name on Los Angeles International Airport. LAX is not anonymous, as claimed by one of your readers. How about Red Skelton, George Burns, Kirk Douglas, Marlon Brando, et al.? I am not advocating any of these names. LAX is hardly anonymous, considering the number of people who use it daily. LAX suits me fine.
Why is it that we don’t think of prominent artists, composers, authors or philosophers? Some of their names and contributions have been known for generations. In a couple of generations John Wayne or Jimmy Stewart will not be known by travelers using airports. Let me repeat: LAX suits me fine. It means what it says.
