Firefighter Earns Achievement Award

Gary Gundersen of the Newport Beach Fire and Marine Department was awarded the Monsignor Sammon Award, presented annually to a firefighter for outstanding achievement.
Gundersen has been involved with the Orange County Burn Assn. Firefighter Advisory Board since its inception more than 10 years ago. He received the award earlier this month at the annual Orange County Fire Services Overachievers Banquet.
