Cypress’ Reyes Wins Academic Award

Gabriela Reyes, a guard on the Cypress College women’s basketball team last season, has been selected as the state’s 1997 female Wilson Scholarship award winner.

Reyes, who had a 3.94 grade-point average, works as a tutor in English, Spanish, and math for elementary, junior high and high school students.

Moving on: Donald Williams, a center at Irvine Valley has signed a letter of intent to play at Fairleigh Dickinson. Williams is from Mission Viejo High.

Pat Versluis, a left-handed pitcher, has signed with Oregon State. Versluis will play for Saddleback this spring then start at Oregon State next fall.
