OCC Edges Grossmont in Water Polo

Orange Coast scored two goals in overtime to defeat Grossmont, 16-14, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s water polo game Wednesday at Grossmont College.
Drew Burkhalter and James Comfort scored the overtime goals for the Pirates, who improved to 9-2-2.
Orange Coast’s Johnny Roy tied the score late in the fourth quarter to force the overtime.
Justin Taylor had 15 saves for the Pirates (3-0 in conference). Grossmont drops to 1-2 in conference play.
In another conference game:
Saddleback 16, Santa Ana 11--Joel Drysol scored three goals to lead Saddleback (9-3, 2-1). Ryan Carroll had seven goals for Santa Ana (3-10).
In Orange Empire Conference women’s water polo:
Orange Coast 8, Grossmont 5--Morgan Meyer had three goals and Duffi Finnegan had 13 saves for the Pirates. Orange Coast, ranked third in the state, improved to 14-3, 3-0. Grossmont is 14-4, 2-1.
In the South Coast Conference:
Golden West 26, East Los Angeles 4--Brenna Lolor, with six goals, and Lisa Swain, with five, led Golden West (14-0, 2-0).
In Orange Empire Conference women’s golf:
College of the Desert 312, Cypress 342, Orange Coast 356, Irvine Valley 414--Jacque Servadio, shot a 30 on the front nine and finished as the medalist for Cypress with a one-over par 72, at Oak Creek.
Natalie Cohen led Orange Coast (8-5) with an 82, leading the Pirates to a school team scoring record.
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
Orange Coast 3, Palomar 2--Outside hitters Jenny Marsh and Jen Fish, each had 23 kills in Orange Coast’s 15-9, 11-15, 11-15, 15-10, 18-16, victory. The Pirates improved to 4-2; Palomar dropped to 1-3.
