Simi Valley’s St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church will offer traditional “Blessings of the Animals” at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. today.
The blessings are part of a daylong animal fair on the church grounds at 280 Royal Ave., between Madera and Sinaloa roads.
The event will feature the Simi Valley Police Department’s K-9 unit; Villa Lobos, which rescues and places hybrid wolves; 4-H Guide Dogs for the Blind; the animals of Shambala, an Ojai group that takes in exotic animals; and birds of the Ventura County Animal Rescue Group.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with tickets for an $8 barbecue available by calling 526-5141. Church officials ask that all animals brought for the blessing be leashed or caged.
