Pacific Blanks UC Irvine in Soccer, 1-0

Wendy Woolgar’s goal at 15 minutes 57 seconds was the difference as Pacific defeated UC Irvine, 1-0, in Big West Conference women’s soccer Friday at Anteater Field.

Woolgar scored on a header from the right side off a pass from Dana Vasquez. Kirsten Roy had three saves for UC Irvine (8-4, 2-1). Pacific is 8-3, 2-0.

In Big West Conference volleyball:

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 3, UC Irvine 0--San Luis Obispo kept UC Irvine winless in conference play with a 15-10, 15-13, 15-1 victory at Crawford Hall.

The Mustangs (10-5, 2-2) were led by their middle blockers. Kari DeSoto had 13 kills and Trisha Jenssen added 12. The Anteaters (4-10, 0-3) were led by freshman middle blocker Larissa Carter, who had nine kills and five digs.

UC Santa Barbara 3, CS Fullerton 0--Heather Bown had 14 kills Santa Barbara’s 15-5, 15-3, 15-9 victory. Teammate Katie Crawford had 10 kills.

Tanja Hart had 43 assists for UC Santa Barbara (14-1, 3-0).

LaCretia Smith had nine kills for CS Fullerton (7-8, 0-3). Carolyn Kittell had 26 assists and 11 digs for the Titans.
