An East Los Angeles child-care center celebrated its 25th anniversary Wednesday by unveiling a newly redesigned facility that workers say will teach the youngsters about computers and the environment.
The nonprofit Centro De Ninos now sports a rain forest decor that will be used to instill environmental values in the children.
“We want to show them what they can do in everyday life to help the environment,” said center coordinator Sharon Munatones. “A lot of these kids have absolutely no information at all on this subject.”
In addition, the center has expanded its computer program to provide Internet access.
“These kids have an awesome opportunity to succeed,” Munatones said. “We are preparing these kids for the future.”
