MARKABA, Lebanon — Guerrillas exploded a roadside bomb and fired mortars at an Israeli position in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, killing two Israeli soldiers and an allied Lebanese militiaman, Israeli and Lebanese security officials said.
The attacks wounded six other Israeli soldiers and two members of the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army. The Iranian-backed Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the strikes, as well as for a rocket barrage that wounded another Lebanese militiaman and a civilian woman.
A Hezbollah statement said the group was commemorating the 1995 slaying of an Islamic Jihad leader.
