LOOKING AHEAD / UPCOMING PREP EVENTS IN ORANGE COUNTY : WATER POLO

Some of the state’s top teams will be at the Heritage Aquatic Complex in Irvine this weekend for the Southern California Water Polo Invitational. Among the participants will be Long Beach Wilson, San Clemente, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake and San Clemente, the Nos. 1-4 ranked teams in Division I.
“This is the fourth year we’ve been running this tournament, and it should offer some excellent water polo,” said Foothill Coach Jim Brumm.
In last year’s final, Wilson edged Foothill, 9-8. Other schools participating include Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, Irvine, Carmichael Jesuit, Orinda Miramonte, San Jose Bellarmine, Coronado, Clovis West and Lafayette Acalanes.
First- and second-round matches will be played Friday. Saturday’s competition starts at 9 a.m., with the championship match set for 6:20 p.m.
