Crespi High’s Blake Tibbetts has no complaints about the Celts’ new wing-T offense. The junior running back rushed for 204 yards in 24 carries and scored on a 34-yard run Friday night in Crespi’s 24-14 nonleague victory over host St. Bernard.
Crespi improved its record to 4-1 entering its Del Rey League opener next week against Bishop Amat.
Alex Kropach’s two-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Celts.
Joell Garcia’s three-yard touchdown run in the second quarter put the Celts up, 14-6, and Evan Drieger added a 36-yard field goal just before halftime to give Crespi a 17-6 lead.
The Celts’ defense, led by linebacker Garcia, limited the Vikings (1-4) to 66 rushing yards and 206 yards overall.
It was a big weekend for the Garcia family. Joell’s brother, Ernie, returned a fumble 54 yards for a touchdown Thursday night in San Fernando’s upset win over El Camino Real.
