West Coast Can Be Just as Preppy as the East

What a surprise. They don’t have prep schools in the West, according to Jere Quinn, coach at St. Thomas More in Connecticut, in the Oct. 6 story about Schea Cotton and his troubles in qualifying for UCLA. Well, we have many fine prep schools in this part of the country, including Montclair Prep here in Van Nuys. But we serve a different role, both academically and athletically. You must register at our prep schools before your senior year of high school, unlike in the East, where a fifth year is permitted, usually to improve your grades.
