Van Hoorebeke, Mann Help Oilers Cruise Past Westminster

WESTMINSTER — Huntington Beach running back Damon Van Hoorebeke rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown and Kyle Mann returned an onside kick for a touchdown to lead the Oilers to a 35-12 nonleague victory over Westminster Friday night at Westminster High School.
Van Hoorebeke’s rushing total was a career high and came in 31 carries, including a seven-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter. On the onside kick, Mann picked up the loose ball on the Westminster 47-yard line and ran it in for the final touchdown for the Oilers (2-3).
Westminster (1-4) scored on its first drive on a 58-yard quarterback draw by Elijah McCarthy with 8 minutes 49 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Huntington Beach answered with a two-yard touchdown run by Eric Yang to cap a six-play, 41-yard drive with 10:17 left in the half.
Huntington Beach made it 14-6 on the final play of the first half on a 32-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jeff Lineberger to receiver Vince Strang. Erik Cabrera caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Lineberger midway through the fourth quarter.
Westminster running back Erick Arthur scored on a six-yard run to conclude the Lions’ scoring with 4:03 left in the fourth quarter.
Lineberger was 10 of 20 for 129 yards with one interception.
