‘Bibi’ Gets Gas Mask for 48th Birthday

JERUSALEM — Benjamin Netanyahu got a cake and a gas mask for his birthday Tuesday.
Protesters brought both to the Israeli prime minister’s home at 7 a.m. on his 48th birthday, beating drums and chanting that Netanyahu was leading the Jewish state to war.
“Our wish for you and for ourselves is that when you celebrate your next birthday you’ll be out of the prime minister’s office,” said one of the few dozen protesters.
Israeli-Arab peacemaking has stumbled since the right-wing Netanyahu, nicknamed “Bibi,” was elected in May 1996, ousting a left-leaning government that led Israel to peace deals with the Palestinians and Jordan.
