Three Kansas Starters Suspended

Three Kansas starters, including sack leader Ron Warner, were suspended for Saturday’s game against No. 1 Nebraska, Coach Terry Allen said Tuesday.
Warner was suspended along with linebacker J.J. Johnson and cornerback Jamie Harris for “a violation of the code of conduct that we have established for every player on this team,” Allen said.

Grambling’s Eddie Robinson, the winningest coach in college football history, was in good condition at a Ruston, La., hospital after complaining of breathing difficulties.
Robinson, 78, is in his 55th and final season as coach at Grambling, where his teams have a record of 408-160-15. This year’s team is 3-3 with five games remaining.

Nevada Las Vegas quarterback Jon Denton, who leads the Western Athletic Conference in total offense, was suspended for two games for violating a team rule, Coach Jeff Horton said. Junior Kevin Crook will replace Denton. . . . Wyoming free safety Brian Lee, the nation’s leader with seven interceptions, may be lost for the season because of a broken arm suffered Saturday at Colorado State. . . . Missouri Southern Coach Jon Lantz resigned after what he said was a physical altercation with a player on the sidelines during last weekend’s overtime victory over Emporia State. . . . Division I-A schools could count a victory over a Division I-AA school once every four years as one of the six wins needed to qualify for a bowl game under a proposal approved by the NCAA Management Council.
