Firm Chosen for Old City Hall Project

The Thousand Oaks City Council has voted unanimously to award a contract worth more than $1.6 million to Alpha Construction to refurbish one of the old City Hall buildings at 401 Hillcrest Drive.
Alpha Construction, which bid $1,647,004 for the project, won the contract over several other firms that sought the opportunity to remodel the gutted south building, which will later be used to house the National Park Service and other tenants.
In addition, the council increased its budget for the total construction by $764,000, bringing the total to about $2.6 million.
Despite Tuesday’s unanimous vote, several residents, including Nick Quidwai, president of Concerned Citizens of Thousand Oaks, urged the council to cut its losses and auction off the building to pay off the city’s mounting debt.
