Pedestrians Hit

Reading the two articles on auto/pedestrian accidents in the Oct. 18 edition of The Times gives one cause to reflect. In the first accident, “Questioned in Hit-Run, LAPD Officer Kills Self,” the driver apparently decided to leave the scene of the accident. He was found, accused and committed suicide. In the second accident, “Car Hits, Kills Boy on Sidewalk,” the driver apparently elected to stay at the scene and was attacked by bystanders.
With a few more episodes like the second accident, it is not hard to see why motorists might be more likely to opt for the illegal and immoral decision to run. To paraphrase LAPD Chief Bernard Parks, all these incidents are tragic.
