Clinton OKs Funds for Roads, Housing

President Clinton signed two bills into law, providing funding for highways, housing and veterans affairs. The president has until Saturday to determine whether to exercise his new line-item veto authority on the measures. The $40.1-billion transportation bill provides spending for the Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Coast Guard and highways. The second bill he signed allows for $68.4 billion in spending on environmental, veterans, housing, community development, space and science programs.
