Former Washington State Great Dies

Carl “Tuffy” Ellingsen, who helped lead Washington State to its last Rose Bowl appearance in 1931 and went on to become a high school coach and teacher, died at 92 Saturday in Spokane. Ellingsen had suffered heart troubles in recent years and had pneumonia at the time of his death, family members said.
