Concordia Wins One in Conference

Visiting Concordia defeated Azusa Pacific in three games to win its first conference match of the season in Golden State Athletic Conference women’s volleyball Tuesday.
Sarah Roberts had 11 kills to lead the Eagles in a 15-12, 15-9, 16-14 victory. Jaime Gast had eight kills and 11 digs for Concordia (5-22, 1-10). Azusa Pacific is 7-14, 2-9.
The victory was the first in Azusa for the Eagles since 1988.
In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer:
California Baptist 2, Southern California College 1--Cal Baptist scored two second-half goals to overtake SCC.
Sophomore Nathan Draxler scored his first college goal midway through the first half to give SCC a 1-0 lead. Rich Sanchez tied the score at the 65-minute mark and Mike Tang kicked the winner in at the 75th minute for Cal Baptist (3-14, 1-8). SCC drops to 7-12, 2-7.
In another conference game:
Westmont 4, Concordia 1--Mark Fiore scored two goals for Westmont (11-4-2, 6-2-1), which outshot Concordia (4-13, 1-8), 23-5. Randy Waddell scored a second-half goal for the Eagles, who trailed, 3-0, at halftime.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s volleyball:
Fresno Pacific 3, Southern California College 1--Denise Lundberg had 11 kills for SCC (12-12, 3-8). Ge Xin had 27 kills and Quin Wen had 22 for Fresno Pacific (22-2, 9-2), which won, 11-15, 15-2, 15-6, 15-5.
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
Cal State Northridge 3, UC Irvine 2--Sarah Libecap had 26 digs, matching the second-highest total in school history, in the Anteaters’ 9-15, 15-7, 15-10, 13-15, 15-13 loss.
