Golden West Ranks in State’s Top 10%

Golden West College has been ranked in the top 10% for educational excellence by the state chancellor’s office.
Compared with other community colleges in the state with similar population figures, Golden West ranks second in the number of degrees it awards. It ranks seventh in the number of students it transfers to universities and ninth in the number of vocational certificates it awards.
Golden West is one of nearly 30 community colleges with a student population of 10,000 to 15,000.
According to statistics released by the U.S. Department of Education, which recently ranked the country’s 1,607 community colleges, Golden West places 14th in the number of associate of arts degrees awarded to Asian Americans. The college also ranks 33rd in the number of AA degrees awarded in the liberal arts and 76th in the number of minority students who earned AA degrees.
