An 88-year-old Huntington Beach woman died Tuesday when the car she was riding in collided with a Jeep, police said.
Bo Bae Suk was a passenger in the left rear seat of a 1991 Lexus driven by Barbara Byun, 57, also of Huntington Beach, Police Lt. Bruce Kelly said. They were headed west on Garfield Avenue about 2:40 p.m. when a 1989 Jeep Cherokee going in the opposite direction made a left turn in front of them onto Edwards Street, Kelly said.
The Lexus broadsided the Jeep and Suk, who was wearing a seat belt, was fatally injured in the collision, Kelly said.
Byun was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange in satisfactory condition, police said. A 1-year-old girl in Byun’s car appeared unhurt, but was taken to UCI Medical Center as a precaution, Kelly said. She had been restrained in a child car seat, he said.
The Jeep driver, Timothy Turner, 32, of Huntington Beach, was unhurt, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
