JetHawks Close Out Stockton in Opener

STOCKTON — Jim Horner had four hits and three runs batted in for the Lancaster JetHawks in a 5-4 victory over the Stockton Ports on Tuesday night in the Valley Division playoff opener.
The JetHawks took the lead in the best-of-three series by surviving a shaky ninth inning.
With two out and Stockton runners on first and third, reliever Denny Bonilla got Toby Kominek to ground out to shortstop Joel Ramirez.
Horner’s three-run triple in the sixth inning gave the Jethawks a 3-2 lead, and a two-run home run by Greg Connors later that inning made it 5-2.
Antonio Fernandez singled home a run in the eighth inning to bring Stockton to within 5-4.
Stockton, which won the first half of the Valley Division, took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on a two-run home run by Jermaine Swinton.
The JetHawks play host to Stockton tonight.
