Last-Minute Goal Gets Moorpark Tie

Pat Russo scored a goal with 30 seconds to play and Moorpark College escaped with a 3-3 tie with Irvine Valley in a men’s soccer match Tuesday at Moorpark.
Russo, who scored from 16 yards out on a pass from Johnny Rotunno, also scored an unassisted goal in the second half to tie the score, 2-2.
Bobby Arthur’s goal allowed Moorpark (1-1-1) to enter halftime tied, 1-1. Goalkeeper Brian Pineau had nine saves.
Last weekend, the Raiders split two matches in San Diego, beating Mesa, 1-0, before losing to San Diego City, 2-1.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Ventura 2, Irvine Valley 1--Fiona MacDonald scored on a pass from Lisa Luper in the 88th minute to lift the visiting Pirates (6-0) in a nonconference match.
Shannon Brooks also scored for Ventura.
Mt. San Antonio 7, Moorpark 0--The Raiders (1-1) were outshot, 25-2, by defending state champion Mt. San Antonio (2-0) in a nonconference match at Moorpark.
The Mounties led, 2-0, at halftime.
First-year Moorpark Coach Jennifer Cowper called the contest, “A good learning experience.”
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
The Master’s d. Concordia, 15-10, 15-9, 9-15, 16-14--Kim Gibson had nine kills and sophomore Kristi Ralston had eight kills and 13 digs for the visiting Mustangs (5-5) in a nonleague match.
Misty May and Amber Cross had seven kills each for The Master’s, and Emily Howe contributed six blocks.
Concordia (2-8) was paced by Wendy Ames with 15 kills and 10 digs, and Jaime Gast with 14 kills and 19 digs.
