Zoo Seeks Volunteers to Work as Docents
Those who are interested in giving tours and teaching classes at the Santa Ana Zoo can attend workshops later this month to become volunteer docents.
Docents learn how to handle and present the animals and may also travel to various communities. Docents who are fluent in Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese are especially needed.
Docent training will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon, from Sept. 30 to Oct. 30. Participants will be asked to attend each training session, said curator of education Kent Yamaguchi. Docents also are required to purchase a $24 uniform shirt and a $35 Friends of the Zoo membership.
