Preliminary Hearing for Baugh Postponed
The preliminary hearing into allegations that Assemblyman Scott Baugh (R-Huntington Beach) purposely misreported tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions and loans was postponed Tuesday until later in the week.
Municipal Judge William L. Evans delayed the hearing in Santa Ana until Friday because one of Baugh’s two lawyers is involved in a trial in Riverside County. There is a possibility that the hearing will be further delayed because of the scheduling conflict, a defense attorney said.
Baugh is charged with five felony perjury counts and 13 misdemeanor violations of the Campaign Reform Act for allegedly falsifying five campaign and officeholder financial disclosure forms. He has pleaded not guilty.
