Cortes’ Goal Gives Orange Coast a Tie

Jesus Cortes scored with five minutes remaining to give Orange Coast a 1-1 tie with Long Beach in a nonconference men’s soccer game Tuesday at Orange Coast.
Cortes’ goal came off a crossing pass from Juan Escobar for Orange Coast (0-2-3).
In another nonconference game:
Irvine Valley 5, Southwestern 0--Marc Ornelas, Otto Rodriguez, Felix Hernandez, Tyler Morgan and David Sabet scored goals for Irvine Valley (7-2-3).
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Cypress 11, Rio Hondo 0--Nicole Terry and Sheri Smith each scored two goals and Lori Harris had four assists for Cypress (7-1).
Fullerton 3, Cerritos 2--Freshman Kristen Rowe scored her seventh goal of the season in the second half to give Fullerton a 2-0 lead. Jen Cunningham and Allison Kniesly also scored goals for the Hornets (3-1).
Irvine Valley 0, Mt. San Antonio 0--Jessica Barr made nine saves to help the Lasers (0-4-1) earn a tie with Mt. SAC (4-0-1), which outshot Irvine Valley, 18-8.
In nonconference men’s water polo:
Cypress 20, Santa Monica 11--Justin McLaughlin scored nine goals and Phil Wirthgen added five for host Cypress (6-1-1).
