Interplay Loses $6.9 Million as Quarterly Charges Mount

Interplay Entertainment Corp., the Irvine-based video game maker, posted a second-quarter loss of $6.9 million, or 33 cents a share, which included $5 million for such items as charges against deferred income taxes and severance costs for former president Christopher J. Kilpatrick, who left Interplay last month for undisclosed reasons. The company earned $691,000, or 6 cents a share, for the same period last year. Revenue declined 28% to $29.4 million.
