An Arleta man was killed Saturday when he ran a red light and was hit by a pickup truck, police said.
Hilario Lopez, 29, was driving a Ford Expedition east on Sherman Way about 5:40 a.m. when he ran the traffic signal and was hit by a Dodge Dakota going south on White Oak, said Officer Sharon Biggs of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
The Ford flipped over and Lopez was ejected from the sport utility vehicle, Biggs said.
Witnesses said the Ford was traveling about 60 mph, Biggs said. The victim was not wearing a seat belt, she said, and paramedics declared him dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge was not injured, Biggs said.
